About The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS)

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) is a mission-oriented, Bible-based Christian denomination headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1847 by German immigrants seeking religious freedom, the word "Synod" stems from the Greek for "walking together"-reflecting our voluntary union of congregations sharing a common confession of faith. Today, the LCMS encompasses nearly 2 million baptized members across more than 6,000 congregations. We are dedicated to vigorously making known the love of Jesus Christ through both word and deed, locally and globally.

Our Affiliation: The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod

Our congregation is a member of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), a confessional Christian church body with nearly 2 million members nationwide. As confessional Lutherans, we hold that the Holy Scriptures are the inerrant, inspired Word of God and the sole authority for what we teach and practice.

Our faith can be beautifully summarized by the three core pillars of the Reformation:

  • Grace Alone (Sola Gratia):

God loves and saves us purely out of His mercy, not because of anything we have done to deserve it.

  • Faith Alone (Sola Fide):

Forgiveness and eternal life are received entirely as a gift through faith in Jesus Christ, who died and rose again as our substitute.

  • Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura):

The Bible is the infallible rule and norm for all Christian doctrine.

We firmly accept the historic Christian creeds (Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian) and look to the 16th-century Lutheran Confessions, compiled in the Book of Concord, as a true and faithful exposition of God's Word.

Rooted in Grace. Open to Everyone.

We hold one simple, profound truth at our core: all are children of God. Our doors are wide open, and we are committed to providing a safe, affirming space for everyone. We celebrate the diversity of God's creation and fully welcome LGBTQ+ individuals into the life, ministry, and leadership of our church. Come as you are, and grow with us.
